Science, more specifically fertility treatments such as IUI, IVF, Follistim, etc. get a very bad rap in the media, politics, religion and all over. But...without these drugs and treatments, I would not be a mommy.
You cannot imagine the feeling it is to NOT have the basic human right of reproduction. Some say don't do it...if it happens, it happens. That is not my thinking. If you truly want to be a parent (and I did) there are ways. Adoption of course is one...and I do LOVE adoption. But, in many cases, science is another option.
We started infertility treatments 1 year after marriage - and 2 years later were blessed with Brady. 3 years later, blessed again with Lily. Both are children of science.
July 25, 1978, marked the first birth of an IVF child. There have now been well over 3 million IVF births. Can you believe it? Science assisting us - those that cannot conceive on their own - with the conception of a child. Amazing. Simply amazing. Thank you science - without you....no cuties!
I can remember when I was in the hospital after an issue of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. I was crying, pale, sick, not keeping anything down, dehydrated, bedridden, retaining fluid like there is no tomorrow....and the nurse asked me, "Is it really worth it?" The answer is yes.
Yes it was worth it! I love those cuties!
